More security. More confidence. More places.
As part of our continued dedication to the security of our customers, we are pleased to offer chip-enhanced debit cards. These cards contain an embedded microchip that encrypts card member information. The protection this technology provides is far superior to magnetic stripe security, so you can use your card with added confidence.
WHY ARE CHIP-ENHANCED CARDS MORE SECURE THAN TRADITIONAL CARDS?
Every time you use your card at a chip-enabled terminal, the embedded chip generates a one-time use code. This code is virtually impossible to counterfeit and helps reduce in-store fraud.
HOW TO USE YOUR CHIP-ENHANCED CARD:
- Insert your card face up, chip end first.
- Leave your card in the terminal during your transaction and follow prompts.
- When the transaction is complete, remove your card and take your receipt.
At non-chip terminals or for phone or online transactions,
your new card works exactly like your current card.

What does EMV stand for?
EMV stands for Europay, Mastercard and Visa. These three companies created the standard for cards equipped with chips and the technology used to authenticate these transactions.
What is a chip-enhanced card?
You may have heard it called a number of things: chip card, EMV card, smart card. They’re just different names for the same thing – a card with an embedded microchip. The chip provides a much higher level of security and protection against fraud when used at merchants with chip-enabled terminals.
Can I use my new card at merchants without a chip-enabled terminal?
Of course! In addition to the embedded microchip, your card still has a magnetic stripe on the back. So even if a chip-enabled terminal is not available, you can swipe your card and sign the receipt as you did before. You can also use your card at ATMs as you always have.
